Little Things Your Brand Can Do Today

I have a special needs daughter. She has a smile you can't resist. She's a pickpocket, too. If you're not careful, she can steal your heart without you knowing it. I remember once we took a trip on a plane. We were in the early boarding group and as we boarded, she was so excited she said "hi" to every passenger already seated in every aisle we passed. Imagine the faces of those grumpy business travelers in first class as they looked up from their newspapers and laptops only to be greeted by this pleasant and unexpected distraction. They couldn't help but answer her smile with one of their own. Their day was made and more than one realized that they could stand to lighten up a little. So I pose to you these questions: what are you doing to delight your bored customers in unexpected ways? Can you learn something from this moment of spontaneous charm? Perhaps a free appetizer for a customer that waits patiently for a table? Maybe it's a pair of socks with those new shoes with an explanation that we're doing it just because we appreciate your business? Or how about approaching a hard working employee and letting them go home after lunch as a thanks for how hard they've been working because they haven't missed a day in 3 months. And make sure they know why you're doing it. That's half the gift. It might be as easy as a genuine greeting with a smile. After all, how much does a smile cost? That's all my daughter had to do. It might work for you, too. Have a happy week. And see what a random act of branding can do for you.
